Work
Effective leader of all facilities engineering operations and project management on a 72-acre, 818 guestroom ocean front property. Continually increasing efficiencies and redeveloping maintenance, safety, service and operational programs. Responsible for a department of 37 and budget in excess of $100m. Plans, programs, develops scopes of work, drawings and estimates for capital, strategic and maintenance planning/projects.

How did you come into the field of Facility Management?
As a kid I always loved design and construction, around graduation of high school the economy took a big turn in Michigan and I found Ferris State’s Facility Management Program. The transition from my architecture program to facility management was seamless and un-regrettable.

What is the inspiration for your career?
Continually improving the customer experience from an FM service side of integrating people, place, process and technology.

What is the most memorable moment of your career so far?
Being nominated and voted President of: University of Hawai‘i – West O‘ahu Facilities Management Academic Program Industry Advisory Board

Where do you see yourself in five years, 10 years and 20 years?
In the future I will be a Corporate Facilities Director leading change of people, place, process and technology.

How have you been involved with IFMA?
I first became a member of IFMA in 2011 as a Junior at Ferris State University. My senior Year I became and Executive Board Member of our Student Chapter. In 2012 I championed bringing my chapter to Facility Fusion in Chicago. Later that year I was an award recipient from the IFMA Foundation at World Workplace in San Antonio. After my Bachelor’s Degree I was member of IFMA West Michigan Chapter. Currently I am an active member of the IFMA Hawaii Chapter and served on the YP panel of Facility Fusion in Las Vegas 2017.

Do you have any advice for other young professionals in FM?
Never stop learning and make your goals a reality.  # Workhard #Playhard

Play
In my free time I love to learn more about Hospitality facilities, engineering and construction. When I’m really board I enjoy snorkeling, fine wood working, hiking and surfing.

What does success look like for you? Work, play or otherwise
Success is where I deliver the level of service my customer desire while meeting my stakeholders expectations and personal expectations of work life balance.
