This is a great question. I would say begin by being polite and confident at the same time. When you say obey, I guess you want work done and feel respected by your workers. Be a leader, set the boundaries, as a facilities manager, you would know what should be completed by when. So provide a clear list of requirements with a timeline to your workers. Follow-up as needed. If you think a worker is not following what you have told them to. First ask them what's wrong and if you can help mitigate any issues they may face. If this does not work, escalate it to your manager. This means that you would bring in your manager to talk to the worker in your presence or mention to the worker that you would be asking your manager for guidance to complete the work. This is important because the worker should not feel that you're going behind his back or complaining about them to your manager. Be cautious not to make the workers feel uncomfortable. Ideally they should feel comfortable to open up to you with any issues they may have and respect you and follow your instructions. Let me know if you have any more questions.
