The success at Chaffey is inspiring! I wish to replicate this in Denver as well.
We are making progress at MetroState for an ADP Program launch, and with our FM Pipeline hosting a Facilithon event at this month’s SkillsUSA state competition and leadership conference, we’ll have students potentially interested in attending!
There are also local organizations dedicated to helping companies create internships for career paths. I feel this would be a great start to successful FM workforce development for Colorado.

Subject: What GWI has done for Southern California students
The GWI along with the Foundation and the California Community College Chancellor's office has created the first facility management degree in California. The first FM class to be offered at Chaffey College in the fall of 2107 had 26 students that were so energized they started an IFMA Student Chapter. The FM curriculum was added to the Business degree requirements. The FM courses include the IFMA Essentials of FM, Project Management (including reading blue prints) and an internship. The chapter programs this year included a presentation from Emcor on cooling towers, Jennifer Corbett-Sharmo on Cleaning; Rod Butterfield on an Architect to a FM; Laurie Gilmer on Choosing the Right KPI; demonstration of Archibus CAFM system. The students were able to meet with the IFMA Foundation Board of Trustees, the resulting article from Nancy Sanquist is attached and be found on the IFMA Foundation Website.
We are now looking for companies to sponsor internships for the students for the summer. If your company is in the Inland Empire area of Southern California, our students would love to intern at your company. Please contact me at pm.mengassoc@gmail.com
