Carolyn:
At the Capital Chapter, we do a number of things and as the upcoming President, this is one of my big initiatives that I want to be promoting. Professional development has always been a big part of what I do and how I like to help, and helping fill the FM Pipeline is so much a part of that. We have several scholarships that we offer to help to pay for FMP/SFP/CFM classes. We also have a scholarship to help pay tuition for FM-related fields or in FM Programs.
We are also working towards bringing Facilithon to Virginia and are scheduled to run the first competition at the Regional event this coming April. So we're very excited to getting High School Students to learn more about the world of FM. We've also been in discussions with the IFMA Foundation and a local County about FM-related internship programs, but that is all still in it's infancy as we have some limitations on the boundaries the program sets and where our membership is.
We've got a number of other things we've been talking about (including how we can help local Community Colleges and Universities get an FM Program up and running) and ideas that I'm still noodling for the coming year.
Looking forward to seeing what others are doing so that we may learn on what is working and what may not be working.

Subject: What Does Your Chapter Do?
What does your chapter/component do to support the GWI? Do you sponsor scholarships? Do you volunteer on a foundation committee? Perhaps you have a local college or university you are trying to get a Facility management program started at. Do you have a chairperson to help further our future of FM?
Sound off!
