Message in a Bottle – Telling the Value of FM
Limited to the first 65 registants. Open to all IFMA Chapter members.
Speaker: Laurie Gilmer, PE, CFM, SFP, LEED AP O&M, FMP, CDT
Often, facility operations and management are seen as solely a cost center for the organization and are not properly valued. Facility Management (FM), as an industry, is not great at telling our story to show the true value we provide the organization. This undervaluing can lead to underfunding and understaffing of facilities departments. In this interactive lab we will discuss ways to show the true value of FM, including:
- Enhancement of organizational mission
- Key role in organizational risk management
We will show data and case studies to highlight how to speak strategically with the C-suite and effectively tell the FM story to increase FM resources. We will include communication activities to reinforce effective communication styles, while tailoring the entire session to telling the FM story to show our true value.
